How would you know?

While on a Greek holiday, on the beautiful isle of Santorini, I had a drop too much of retsina.

The conversation turned to 'The One'.

How would you know you're met 'The One'? How do you know you're with 'The One'?

Obviously, I can't remember verbatim what I said then.

But here goes ...

I will know ... when, while on the beach during an incredible sunset, we gaze into each others' eyes, and we see not just today, but the whole of our shared pasts and our infinite future together.

'The One' simply doesn't exist - it's pure concept based on a miss mash of what you think you really want/need, when these values are just not static. Relationships are a series of compromises. And so, like time, 'the one' could be this particular moment.

I think its about believing...

There is this movie entitled "Elf", might draw some comparisons.

I think true love is as true as you believe in it, just like the spririt of christmas will exist as long people believe in it!

You can never find true love, unless you believe in it. Yet, even if you believe in it, you might not find it. Yet, it does not mean you will never find it, sometimes, its just a matter of time...

:) I respect your values, chelsea5manutd0.

I think you're an idealist as well, albeit with a different set of ideals.

You might just see it as pragmatism. And isn't pragmatism just another form of idealism?

Values are ideals too. Belief in values is belief in ideals is idealism, no? :)

Belief in the Master, in mission, in destiny, in the Lord, are all ideals. And maybe truths.

I don't respect religious values, since the whole system relies on unfounded blind faith in an unquantifiable being. Some religions do instill a standard of life values, and that can be useful. But Master, Mission, Mate supposses a pre ordained life - I make my life, not some ludicrous belief system. This is not a dress rehearsal for an aferlife - there is no afterlife! This is it, make the most of it, and try not to hurt other people on your journey. Free your mind.
